She's thinking, "I will kill you in your sleep, infidel!"

This is why they wear burkas. They have no idea what a woman is supposed to look like.

An acquaintance of my girlfriend married a guy and moved to Dubai
From what I was told being fair skinned is not a good look.
She wants to come home but the laws say she has to stay until her husband releases her.

Think I will pass

I have spent a lot of time in Dubai and visited many sections of the city when working in the area. I have not been back since the World Islands were completed, but prior to that a number of women wore anything from Burkas to Western attire in public and I never saw anyone accosted over what they were wearing. There are some rules wrt allowable clothing at the beach but I never went to the beach wile in Dubai.

Dubai is more open than most of the Middle Eastern countries and alcohol is readily available at hotels and some other locations. I would take my wife on a Dubai vacation if she really wanted to go. The one thing that I am certain has not changed since my list visit is that almost everything is very high priced i Dubai. A standard Hilton room was running $300-$400 per night five years ago and who knows how much it would be now. Pricing in Dubai is similar to that encountered in Hong Kong, London, NYC, and downtown San Francisco.

There is only one.place where different skin color isn't persecuted and is instead elevated above the majority population's skin tone. That is in traditionally White majority Western lands.

There is only one place where women are elevated to a station above males by such methods as favorable hiring practices. That is in the same lands.

Every other land discriminates against all other groups. 7 billion of them discriminate racially.

I'm guessing the hotel lounge is not named the "Allah Ak Bar".

Not true. Throughout most of Asia, the lighter your skin, the more attractive they consider you. This is particularly true in Thailand, Vietnam, etc.

Those who have darker skin are considered laborers, because you are believed to have darker skin since you spend your time out in the sun working.

The women in Thailand who have lighter skin are highly sought after by the men, and when white men come to Thailand, they are treated like royalty... which is really weird.

Totally racist... but it's just a cultural thing. The Thai people are really nice, as are the people in Vietnam.

Asians are highly tolerant of White people, yes. They are still ethno-centric in a large majority. They will look at 'their' women as non-them if they dress and make-up like White western women.

Something curious though is the popularity of skin lightening treatments in some areas. There is also the preference of White male "donors" for children in similar pockets.

S. Korea is all about emulating the US culture including dressing and copying our trends. Has been for decades. Same with Taiwan.
I saw some pictures of he city of Pusan, S.Korea (now called Busan) last week. The big change began happening in the mid 70s (I was there in '78) and today, the way they all look, dress and act is hard to differentiate from any US city.

This is simply not true at all. As MaryJane says below your post, in the vast majority of these cities, these people all dress exactly as we do. This has been my experience as well. I've been all over Thailand, Japan, and parts of Vietnam.

Wanting western development and prosperity is not the same as embracing a foreign people. We also ship freighters full of clothes out of our nations. They put them in compactors to ship like cardboard.

Why do I have to always say, yes, there are exceptions? Of course there are. Japan is THE example of such. And they still don't want any infiltration by foreign people for the most part. It's also an occupied nation.

There are about 3 billion in just 3 Asian countries. How many people are in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea? There are a billion Africans.
