The pinnacle of Walmart absurdity (Page 1/2)

There are a lot of things that bother me about Walmart but there is one especially that annoys me immensely. The absurdity of locking up items that are inexpensive. Kit, c’mon dude. Show me some proof that they really do this because I don’t believe you. Ok then...Want proof? Ok, get a load of this! (see attached pic) What you don’t see is that the shaving cream I bought was in a locked display case. You have to call over a Walmart employee who has the key to that display case, then after you point to what you want, they then lock it in a clear plastic lock box. Then, when you get to the register, you have to grab another employee to unlock it from the box so you can pay for it.

And before you ask, I can understand them locking up a small, expense item but this shaving cream was only (are you ready for this?) .....$1.47

Isn't 1 or 2 gets swiped... The hole inventory will be gone if not locked up so that "cheap" item cost WM and you a lot more if you can get them.
And isn't just WM but CVS and many others lockup popular items to steel and price doesn't matter.

Or they had a rash of ass holes spraying it on the floor. Or someone got sick huffing it in the store.
Do not underestimate them. They are why tide pods have a warning

Maybe that is the very last and only 100% made in America product Walmart carries?

Doesn't make sense locking up shaving cream.........Maybe druggies use it for something.....

Wallyworld does have TOWELS that are "Made here"....and they seem to hold up well (Except when my new dog chewed on one in her crate!)

That was kind of my thought, too.

It would be less if not for all the lock boxes.

Nothing like that happens in my area, seems like it's a problem with a segment of the local citizenry.

Tide pods and others have hurt and killed many kids is why not only a warning but change the overpack that pods come inside.
Because Tide original "bottle" was clear so people see the pods and many kids think candy/cookies look at them. Kids pull out draws, climb, etc, and fast to get whatever they think is good to eat.

CVS started doing that in the city, padlocked all the refrigerated sections, want a bottle of OJ or Snapple? you need to call someone over (of just go buy it elsewhere.)

They put protective thingies on the peg boards so you don't steal the beef jerky. I just tear the bags off (I'm SO gangsta) and the shelves with the locks on them? You can just reach around from the back and get your Pepcid Complete just like Tom Cruise would...

Maybe the shaving cream is locked due to HALLOWEEN approaching... muhwahahahaaaa

I know some people who worked in retail, it was terrible. folks would swap light bulbs with other higher priced ones... "They shouldn't be so expensive" take bandaids out from one box and add them to another "More can fit!"
