Any Crazy Cat Ladies in the house ? (Page 1/2)

OK, so I got Kim a kitten a few weeks ago. 3 months old. It's SUPPOSED to be her cat......

Problem is, he really cant be bothered with her and bonded himself to me. WORSE than a needy puppy. If I am making coffee or cooking dinner he will climb up me and sit on my shoulder like a parrot. At my desk or couch he has to be on my lap. Go to bed he has to sleep on my pillow, If I go the can or shower and shut the door he sits there and cries until I come out, then climbs up me. Cant even wait until I sit down. He dosnt want to out of physical contact for 3 minutes.

Dogs, I can train. Cats I haven't got a clue, they are the pets that are never around until its FEED ME time. Anybody got the slightest clue how to un-bond him from me and onto her ? (Tuna dont work, he takes a bit from her and jumps up on me to eat it)

You can't unbond him, but it'll get better.... Sorta. Each cat is different, but should be less needy as they get older. We've got two rescues that were dumped at the house that I saved, and I bottle fed, and I talked the wife into keeping, and neither one will give me the time of day. She goes to the store they walk around the house crying like they just lost their best friend. I walk into a room and they take off like I'm going to kill them.

Then we got this Main Coon kitten. He's more of a dog. He can sleep on any lap, and as long as the sleeping spot is warm, he's your best friend.

If possible make sure she is the one who feeds him, gives him treats, and cleans his litter box. Over time he will link those things to her, and should cozy up to her more.

I think the cat has you figured out and just gets a kick out of annoying you.

I just traveled to and stayed at a home in TX where four long haired cats are housed. I was advised to watch very carefully when entering and exiting the house because these "Kitties" never go outside. The room I slept in was a guest room but, that's also where the cats liked to be.

All I'm gonna say is, I won't be going back, don't care how much they pay for a delivery.

I've yet to visit a house that had 'inside cats' that didn't smell like 'inside cats' no matter how much air spray chemicals, floor cleaning products, or vacuum sprinkle dust stuff or odor absorbing litter they used. The residents usually don't notice it because they have become accustomed to the smell as being 'normal' but everyone visiting will notice immediately.

And apparently it is rude to assume they have cats based on first sniff.

No doubt. Similar assumptions are made about live stock. Can't tell you how much our neighbors hated a southeast breeze when it occurred. Yep, having fattening pens does have it's distracters at times.

I smell it in our house frequently but it's when one of the boxes needs cleaned. The box has to be washed, not just emptied.
Typically you can't smell it when walking into the house.

We have a male cat and he bonded with me. He's a food hound and can be annoying when you want to walk by or to the kitchen, but he isn't overly affectionate like many male cats are. He wants to please like a dog does.
