Thursday Night NFL game broadcaster's apology for saying 'high point' puzzles viewers (Page 1/1)

I was looking in on the game when it happened, and I was puzzled by it. I'm still puzzled by it.

I'll cut right to the chase, at the end of this very short media report:

quote
Fans have taken it on themselves to discuss the definition of ‘high point’ and it seems there are two possible explanations as to why it could cause offense.

Firstly, it’s apparently an inaccurate term to describe Krofts’ catch. Fans claim the catch isn’t the high point of the pass but the high point of the receiver’s jump.

Secondly, some fans think Aikman had to apologize since ‘high point’ sounds similar to Ohio firearms company Hi-Point, which manufactures a firearm commonly used by gangs.

"What did Troy Aikman mean by 'high point' and is the term offensive?"

I'm guessing that this New Topic probably isn't the high point of your day.
