Synchrony (Page 1/1)

Physics or politics?

I found it interesting because I have a fascination with the physics of music.

An explaination (about 20 minutes):

It's ok. A little, cute example showing some of Newtonian theory in practice. But is the 2nd video really the explanation? Is an explanation really needed? I guess for some, yes.

I am all the time noticing things like car blinkers timing themselves to music, or to eachother, peoples shoe clicks on hard ground doing similar things, etc.

That's funny!

My post was actually a political comment, another "public service announcement". But no one got it.

In the second video, there was a bridge that had a resonant frequency that was a harmonic of the gate of the average human. The video showed that people walking on the bridge began to walk in lock step causing the bridge to sway dangerously.

I like to encourage alternate perspectives, sometimes it doesn't work. My "Meet John Doe" post had a similar impetus.

I could pontificate from my perspective, but some would find fault, simply because I am the one who said it and others would be turned off just because they don't like to read long-winded dissertations, they sound pompous. I prefer to lead people to think for themselves.

You can lead a horse to tequila, but without salt and lime, many will refuse to drink.

Few understand that with good tequila, you don't need salt or lime.

Good point. Yes and the pendulum (metronome) is a nice metaphor as well.
I could liken the synchronization to individuals not thinking for themselves. Maybe also similar to people taking the easiest way to the next meal and claiming this is now ultimate truth.

The cat bobbing his head could be similar to those being led by the pied piper...
