$1,500,000 USD for a wrecked aircraft with missing parts seems rather steep to me. Maybe if one can afford that then it becomes a 'money is no object' project. Still, at some point there are NO more parts available to fix a 40's era plane, what then?

People who take on those projects are usually groups doing it as a labor of love. My 1st lesson was at this airport on the day their old museum burned, and a few years later I was picking up extra cash gassing airplanes on weekends and did a lot of work with them, and got into some really cool stuff. Peninsulair is closed now too.

I miss the 90's.

One of the reasons that P8 is up for salee is that it was part of Paul Allen (Microsoft) collection at Flying Heritage Armor Museum in Everitt Washington. He died in 2018, no wife, with no children and his sister was named executor of his estate and it was reported she and the Allen trust opted to downsize his 3 historic properties. The museum, a cinema and a production company in Seattle. He also owned the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers which are both in trust with Allen's sister listed as owner.
The museum closed in 2020 and there were no plans publicly offered to when or if it would ever reopen.
