A Quick Caution About Holiday Drinking And Driving (Page 1/1)
randye DEC 15, 03:15 AM
With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving after partying with friends.

At a holiday event this weekend I had a few mixed drinks, a few shots of tequila and several glasses of wine.
Despite the jolliness I had the sense to know that I was over the limit. That's when I decided to do what I have never done before.
I took a cab home.

Turns out that on the way home there was a police DUI check point, but they waved the cab past it and I arrived home safely without incident.
This was fortunate because I had never driven a cab before. I don't know where I got it from, and now that it is in my garage, i don't know what to do with it.

Randye,
I'd be laughing harder except, our rented limo vanished last night with a party of six friends and one spouse in it. Please check to ensure that cab isn't extra long with some drunks in the back. The wife is in charge of making breakfast and I'm getting hungry..

Ha Ha. I've heard it before, but I still laugh every time.
Here is another way to get out of Dodge:
Recently a routine police patrol was parked outside a local neighborhood tavern. Late in the evening the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing.

After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five vehicles, the man managed to find his car, which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as most of the other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally, he started the car, switched the wipers on and off (it wasn't raining or snowing), flicked the indicators on and off, tooted the horn, and then switched on the lights.

He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little, and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as more patrons left in their vehicles.

At last he pulled out of the parking lot and started to drive slowly down the road. The police officer, having patiently waited all this time, now started up the patrol car, put on the flashing lights, and promptly pulled the man over and carried out a breathalyzer test. To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence of the man having consumed alcohol at all!

Dumbfounded, the officer said "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken".

"I doubt it", said the man. "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."

You should be careful about what you post in public. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information about that cab.

Speaking of Crime Stoppers, they are also offering a reward for a burglary in which a man's viagra was stolen. Police are looking for a hardened criminal. Have you had any contact with him ?
