What will they think of next, Cow Flatus Drinking Straws. (Page 1/2)

I recently got a small package in the mail that a good friend sent to me. Inside that package was a couple of drinking straws, I thought this was curious and this is the story. He was traveling in CA and noticed something about the drinking straw he was given and decided to investigate.

This is part of what he told me:
I noted I was given what appeared to be ALMOST normal plastic straws at several places in California. Knowing plastic drinking straws are famously illegal in California, I did some research.
They're making drinking straws out of cow farts.
Seriously.
One of the straw wrappers said "Made with AirCarbon" so I did some research:
From the company's Wikipedia page:
"Currently, Newlight captures methane from a dairy farm in California. The methane is transported to a bioreactor. From there, the methane is mixed with air and interacts with enzymes to form a polymer trademarked as AirCarbon. According to Popular Science, the plastic performs similarly to most oil-based plastics but costs less to produce. AirCarbon has already been contracted for use in desk chairs, computer packaging, and smart phone cases."
As the girls were drinking I told them they had solidified cow farts in their mouths; they didn't believe me until I showed 'em the article, then I got a "daaaaaaad! Could you have not waited until AFTER we were finished to tell us that?!?!?!?!"

The AirCarbon produced today is a PHA material made by using air with methane-based carbon emissions as a feedstock input. The result is a material that is approximately 40% oxygen from air and 60% carbon and hydrogen from captured methane emissions by weight.

Some times, truth is stranger than fiction..........

Wow.

The question is, ... are the cow fart straws any more green friendly as plastic straws ?

I have heard dirty stories about cow farts being not green.

I have no idea, just know this, you always have a choice as to what you put into your own mouth.

The REAL question is....

Are they collecting those farts in jars before selling them ?

If there are questions, they will vary significantly, I'm thinking.

My first thought was that if these catch on, will cows be asked to produce more flatus? I wonder about other things when I consider this, collection? By individual cow (and if so how they do that) or, by some collective enclosed facility and captures all escaping gases. Why cows just cows? Be afraid, you may be next.

So...a serious question: are they approved for Vegans?

Goat farts ?

Musical goat farts ?

Straws that toot ?

For toot jars ?

There is some real potential for explosive profits here.

I'll just say that once again, if anything so dumb, useless, and stupid could be created, rest assured it's created in my pathetic state. I guess there was something wrong with using those mandated cardboard straws that collapse after 5 minutes that we're forced to use.
