Used video cards (Page 1/1)
Jake_Dragon JAN 18, 06:24 PM
I have been seeing several advertised sites for used GPUs.
Cards that run between $2000 - $3000 going for under $100
These cards are recovered cards from bit coin farms.

I think most of them are a scam and will take your money and leave you with nothing.
Has anyone had any experience with used GPUs and if so where did you get yours?

I haven't heard of that particular scam, but I am aware of the fake GTX GPU cards.

Are these only mining cards or graphics cards? Mining cards have no video output. They are just a GPU card.

Those poor cards... just want to play some games but instead, they have to sit there and try to make money. Don't even have a choice in the matter...

My favorite part about the bit coin machines is people not realizing you cannot buy one. If the ROI was more than the machine, well they wouldn't sell the machine.

I cannot speak to these GPU. I had my chance to cash in on bitcoin and didn't. Not a slip in as much as, ignorance of the concept.

I wonder if these cards could be used in tandem with cards that have a video output in SLI mode?

quote

Scalable Link Interface (SLI) is a brand name for a deprecated multi-GPU technology developed by Nvidia for linking two or more video cards together to produce a single output. SLI is a parallel processing algorithm for computer graphics, meant to increase the available processing power.

$95.51 for a card that sells for over $3000 on eBay? Sure... it's legit.

I can't imagine they're legitimate... even so, the wear on the ram is probably pretty significant if they are being dumped after living a life of crypto mining.

I recently noticed that a lot of people are buying brand new "new old stock" unsold computers... like gaming computers such as the Lenovo Legion. They came with nVidia cards like the 1066 Super, and the 2070, and the 2080. People are buying them, removing the graphics cards, and then selling the computer as new / unboxed with "NO GPU" and then either selling the graphics card separately on eBay, or using it somewhere else for crypto mining.

Facebook is full of these ads you would think a platform that is so intent on silencing "misinformation" would be a little bit better screening these ads.

I wouldn't trust these deals, I do think there are places you can buy used cards but I wouldn't trust them online for such a reduced rate.
