Wildfire video The Texas Eastland Complex (Page 1/1)

This is hard to watch. If you've never seen one, here it is, and you can see why they are having so much trouble containing it. The fire is running horizontally driven by high winds. When it gets to the road, it doesn't even slow down. Like a big blowtorch. Turn the volume on.
A long long way from me but not all that far from where I'm moving to.

It's absolutely crazy to see it spread ON THE GROUND like that. I assumed the flames that were licking the tree on the other side would get hit first... and then I saw the brush on the ground catch fire.

Yep, have seen those multiple times in the Flinthills of KS. Can and does destroy hundreds of sections of grass/property in a very short time.
You just can't get ahead of Mother Nature when she wants to redecorate the landscape.

Ground cover like that will burn like gasoline. It takes a bit of heat to set the trees on fire. If the trees are igniting instantly, boy...you in a heap o' trouble. Look for videos of "crown fires". I have posted a couple here, in the past.

Please be safe.

The wind is blowing embers 1/4 mile ahead of the flames in some places. There's no way to stay ahead of it. The fire is a complex fire, made up of several different fires spread across 3-4 adjacent counties now. Eastland, Erath, Hood, Tarrant, Mills.
Other fires in other parts of the state.

Reminds me of 2011.
