| Streaming video directly to friends? (Page 1/1) |

Sometimes I want to stream video directly to some friends, for instance to show them a new DJ set of mine. Problem is, if I do that through Twitch or YouTube, my stream often gets cut off because of the copyrighted tracks I'm playing (even though I actually paid for those tracks).
Anyone know of any software for Windows that allows me to stream video without using services like Twitch or YouTube? Quality needs to be pretty good so something like Zoom is not an option. Also, I would like to be able to use OBS with it.

You could check out Discord. You'd have to set up a "server" and invite those friends to it, but as long as you aren't streaming publicly I don't think they would flag you for copyright violations.

I was interested/curious about this topic, and I'd never previously heard of Discord. I did some googling on this service. Not surprisingly, it appears that there can be streaming quality issues.

can also do private calls between a couple people without the need for setting up a server
patrick, i've been using discord several years and never had an issue with streaming quality, unless i had other network variables(like when i have a game downloading in the background)[This message has been edited by A_Lonely_Potato (edited 03-28-2022).]

Just tested the combination of OBS + NGINX (for windows) + Dash and that does exactly what I want. 😊
