Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies: Got a fave? (Page 1/4)

2.5 has a great thread on music, thought that one on good ole fashion early cartoon humor would help everyone relax and have a good laugh with all the numerous local/global uncertainties. And bring back 'Merrie Memories'. The early 1990's (even before that with different programming), TNT during the week days used to have at 7:00PM a 2 hour long program called "TNT Toons". Half hour of Tom & Jerry, half hour of Pink Panther, and then a full hour of Looney Tunes. Sometimes they'd change it up from T&J and PP, to The Muppet Show and Popeye. But always had Looney Tunes to close out the night. I'd be sitting there 'trying' to do my grade/highschool homework (ha!) while watching it.

Though there are many, these 2 I always get a kick out of with Bugs.

I always liked WB cartoons above all others. (Didn't really care much about Merrie Melodies and other "musical" based cartoons.)

...except for this one, that was borrowed by the Guess Who.

Now those are real oldies. Gonna forward those off to my pops, see if he remembers those from the old Zenith.

Some might find this ten minute video interesting. It discusses the rivalry between Disney and the Fleischers.

Of particular irony, in light of the current controversy in Florida, is the point that Disney was considered the more “family friendly” of the two studios.

This is what Saturday morning cartoons looked like when I was a kid. No wonder all us old geezers are so screwed up, huh?

I'm sure these old cartoons are at least partially responsible for my love of early jazz. You could almost call this next one an early "music video". Some will recognize Cab Calloway.

My all-time favorite cartoon is "Duck Amuck" with Daffy....and an evil cartoonist.

The early Roadrunner cartoons are really good, also- but can't stand the later ones with repetitive stunts and horrid music.

The only voice I can mimic is Marvin the Martian; "Someone has stolen my illudium Q36 explosive space modulator"
