in court most of this week, after nearly 3 1/2 years (Page 1/4)

I have been subpoenaed as a witness by both prosecution and defense over that Christmas Eve shooting that took place next to my place in 2018 and the gut shot guy showed up at my front door right after dark and interrupted our family Christmas Eve get together. At courthouse all day yesterday but they didn't get to me and will have to go back Wed and Thursday. What a shitshow it is turning into.

I really don't have time for any of this, as closing date for my house sale is fast approaching. All we're waiting on is a new survey the buyer's lender is insisting on. It was last surveyed in 2007.

Too bad you can't do it remotely. (is that an option?)

no.
I asked. They (both sides) want the personal effect for the jurors' benefit.

I had a long post typed up, but I'm trying to do better at life.

I'll sum it up with, it's bogus that you doing the right thing, now is a burden on you.

Sometimes, doing the right thing is a burden. What separates good people from the rest is that they do it anyway.

Yeah... being subpoenaed as a witness always places the burden on the witness. I understand the need for it, but it does become a pain in the ass. Especially since most courthouses won't even validate your parking. You're entitled to pay for the day, but there's so many God-damned forms to fill out for it that no one does it. They hand you a clip board with like 6 sheets of paper on it that need to be filled out. It should be 1 sheet of paper... address to send the check. I've been subpoenaed three times for witnessing an accident. Never been called up to give testimony, just the simple fact that I show up changes the course of the defense... which is a waste of my time. If I'm going to be there, I plan to say **** .

I was asked to be an expert witness on a Federal appeals case in support of the U.S. Government (Office of General Council), and I enjoyed that... the whole thing was done in one long day, and it was in Dallas... so I only had to drive from SA the night before, and leave after the case.
