Fan/Airflow essperts... (Page 1/1)

I need to build myself a collapsible/portable spray booth. Something along the lines of this.

https://www.ebay.com.sg/itm...-Model-/141270959515

But not NEARLY the power of this.

Box is easy, foam-core project board from the buck store assembled with printed clips and hinges. I got that part covered easy. Overall size is about 24x36. It goes on my worktable when needed and folds flat for storage in behind it when not.

Exhaust tube is cheap dryer duct, and more foam board to point it out the window (less than 2 feet).

Here is where I am stumbling. It's going in my man-cave, which is 12x12 and a GP shop. I have 2 printers (right now), 2 computers, a TV, radio, tower speaker....expensive stuff I dont want hit with overspray. It's also the spare bedroom in a condo so I cant have TOOOO much rattle-can-smell floating around inside.

I am thinking a simple (printed) frame to hold a couple of coffee filters to catch the particles, but cant figure out how to size the fan so it will be effective yet not overly-powerful so it sucks the paint right off the parts being done. The last one I tried I used a $10 walmart table fan, duct tape, and a carboard box and that was too much. I had trouble with the paint going where it was pointed. Just the box alone didnt work, I had overspray escaping. A regular 110v or USB powered fan would be perfect

Anybody got any suggestions on what size/type I should be looking for that will actually work ?. It's all rattle-can paint, no compressor or anything involved.

Just use a fan speed controller.

Steal a couple of fans and a power supply out of an old computer and build or buy a speed controller.

That's the COB* solution.

A cheap 120mm case fan can move 30-50 cfm.

Fans, just go to Wmart etc and buy a small 3 speed fan.
Example: https://www.walmart.com/ip/...ount-Black/703688838

Bigger issue is doing this Inside...
"Furnace Filters" "Dust Masks" and many other Filter media Won't stop Paint Smells and often other people in other units of condo etc will smell and report it.

Fumes are VOC that need Active Carbon to grab it out of air.
Worse, Many Aerosols including most "nontoxic" products use Butane and other Very Flammable propellant and not good to breath either.
Even if doesn't explode, can cause Low O2 in small places making you to pass out or worse.

You ARE blowing that stuff out the window, right?

Well, thats SORTA the plan. But not all of it, I kinda want some of it to stay on the parts.

We arent talking huge projects with globs of smell, these types of things are popular here, but to make them big enough and still fit the printer bed I need to split them into at least 4, sometimes 6, then glue the pieces together. A little spot putty, sanding and ya cant tell it's not one solid print. It don't take a lot of paint to cover them but still gotta be done neatly.

Put some LED strips behind them and ya get a DAMN good buck for them.
