Who's putting car seats or booster seats in their Fiero? I'd like to be able to take my 3yo out for errands in it, not sure of the legality of it in Canada or best practices. Anybody else tried this out?
I'm getting my GT back up and running - just in time to move to the Sunshine Coast. Was down with a bad fuel pump for longer than I thought it'd take, but had a lovely drive today (despite learning the VSS had failed).

You need to check with your local laws. Know how you often see a key to turn of airbags in trucks. That's the reason. The Fiero has no harness hooks. It'll depend on the seat. We really can't help you without specific province and maybe city or you can just dial (I think 311 here) or your local police station. They'll know straight off.
I don't know if fire or police will install them anymore due to liability. Maybe same for hospital.
Under water the fish don't stink.

I haven't looked into baby seats in a very long time, doing that currently due to expecting my first grandchild this summer.
If I was still driving a Fiero, I'd have to check with local authorities and experts. Frequently, I see where local Fire Departments will provide such expertise but, I have no idea what Canada may require.

Last I checked, the state of Florida said a child over the age of 3 can sit anywhere he/she wants with just a normal seat belt.
Don't want to get political here, it's not a right/left thing... but the baby seat lobby is extremely powerful.
The companies that make baby seats (you know them, Graco, McLaren, etc...) they lobby state and provincial governments on a regular basis, and commission studies and tests that are at best... often carefully manipulated to back up whatever angle they're trying to push. As a result, the vast majority of state legislatures have over-regulated this area... to the point that even the Federal government now subsidizes child booster seats for ~$20, which have been proven to be mostly unnecessary for most kids.
If you REALLY research a lot of the studies, and dig into the peer review comments, you'll find that for most average-height 5-7 year olds... you no longer need any kind of child seat or device. There's also absolutely no difference for a child to sit in the back as it is for them to sit in the front (when they are not in a child seat).
BUT... almost every other state except Florida has really excessive laws, so you have to follow it unless you want to get pulled over.
Just so I don't upset anyone, I'm not saying that a booster seat isn't necessary for smaller children, or that baby seats aren't important for infants and toddlers... but by the age of 5, most kids no longer need anything... and there are some states that continue to require child seats until they're 13... which is ridiculous.

The determining safety factor is whether the child is tall enough to allow the seat belt to safely go over his/her chest without resting anywhere on the neck. During a crash, the child can have his/her jugular vein ruptured or a broken neck if the seatbelt is across the lower neck area. That's why even booster seats come with seat belt cables that change the angle of the belt and lower it down for the child.

His supposed location isn't the issue. It's the fact that prior to this thread, he's posted four times in long dead threads* where he usually links to some product or another. In previous discussions about these odd posts, it's been suspected that this is nothing but SPAM.
