Cell Phone App Autostart Question (Page 1/1)

My sons both have the Galaxy A53 phone and there is an annoying feature that I cannot turn off. I've searched the internet but every keyword that I use opens up a generic answer. Here's whats happening. My son watches Tik Tok and wants to go to bed. He closes the app and sets his phone down. If someone calls in the middle of the night and the call is missed, Tik Tok re-opens and continues playing where he left off. So basically his phone is running Tik Tok all night and he wakes up to a low battery plus the phone is hot as hell from running videos all night long. This happens on a regular basis so is anyone familiar with a setting that disables "open last used app after missed call"?

Force close tik tok. You can easily do this by hitting the "menu" key then swiping the app away. Should fix your little red wagon.

While technically thats not a force close on android, that should do it. Clearing it from recent apps will clear it from the phones RAM. Force closing requires you to go into the app list in device settings and selecting the app, then use the "force stop" option.

IMSA, is he actually exiting the app, or just putting the phone in standby by single pressing the power button? And does the phone have a screen lock set?(password/pin/biometrics)

You're correct. I didn't think running him to the task manager was going to be needed. I assumed not super tech savvy given the phone model and that he didn't mention trying nine or your method.

turn off then restart the phone may help.

Force stop per settings app may help.

Tik Tok may have bugs or anything else "hates" Tik Tok or Tik Tok "hates" any app.

Uninstall apps you need first.

TikTok is playing looped videos. Videos override the autosleep feature on your cell phone, because it's assumed that if you're watching a video that you don't want to have to click the screen every minute.

Your sons shouldn't even have to close or force-stop the app. They just need to get out of the app before passing out, so when the call is missed, the screen doesn't return to the app.

It also sounds like they don't have any passcode set up, otherwise it should be locked out of opening TikTok when the call is missed. That should be step one, if true.

I appreciate the help on this. I guess I'll have him add a password. It's just strange that even though he has Youtube, Tik Tok, and maybe a browser opened but minimized, only Tik Tok pops up after a missed call. The other apps stay minimized. It's as if Tik Tok took priority of the phone. Oh well, I'll have him add a passcode or fingerprint to see if that takes care of it.

Brennan has hit the issue almost dead on. I don't have TikTok, so I cannot guess what other settings it may have in its' options. I can't imagine with their market share customer service is even on their radar, so bug fixes are (I'm guessing) only major or only ones that give them more on their end.
