Mine was a 96.
The electrics are a nightmare. Every time you hit a puddle they go out, and good luck trying to track it down.
I blew up the right header at the EGR downshifting (ooopppsss, I was only doing a buck 70 or so when the light turned, went from 5 to 3.) and equally good luck trying to track down new manifolds or headers for the 3.4.
Trip to the car lot.
Thats how I ended up with the Mini Cooper.

That nose never really grew on me. I think it was 90-92, right?
I love everything else about that car.

I personally can't stand that front end. The needle nose has always bugged me. Im fond of the earlier 82-84 slotted nose. I prefer the 3rd gen camaro front over firebirds though. althought i do like me some pop ups, i love the more aggressive camaro front

I was looking for an image of the Trans Am model with the hood nostrils that I dislike... but I kind of got sidetracked when I came across this rendering of a mid-engine Trans Am. Kind of cool... although all the scoops and nostrils up front are now even more silly.

That's actually pretty sweet looking.
The nose definitely seemed to mark the beginning" of the design cues from the 1993 model.
I actually really like the 1998-2002 Pontiac TransAm styling. I will say though that the interiors are really, really garbage. The word that often gets used to describe them is "Fisher Price." Everything is bulbous, which I know was the 90s styling.. but the quality with which GM made interior pieces was sub-par. They would literally make things from molds, and not even smooth off the break-away areas. They didn't even so much as bother to design interior plastic pieces with an emphasis on hiding the break-away points. I can remember multiple parts in my 1997 Grand Ams (I had two of them), where there would be a sharp edge on an interior piece that was supposed to be smooth. LOL...
But the body was excellent, and the frame / chassis / engine were also fantastic.
I suppose it's eye of the beholder here... but I loved the snorkles.
This is a good example of one:
If you had a little bit more money at the dealership, you could order one of the factory-optioned performance vehicles that went above and beyond a WS6. The package was called the "Firehawk." They were made by SLP Performance, which was located just down the street from the plant that manufactured them. They would start off with a WS6 and truck it the 20 miles or so down the street on a covered flatbed. They'd remove a few pieces, upgrade the engine and spec-tune it, and replace the nose and some other stuff. You then got the elongated snorkles, like this:
The Firehawk was Pontiac's version of the Camaro SS, which SLP Performance also produced.
I don't know what SLP does now... maybe they make the newer Camaros high-end versions, I don't know...

I never could understand that "Bi" level hood scoop....Looked idiotic.
I was going to mention the Firehawk "Aftermarket" hood w/scoop which actually looked more "Factory" than the factory scoop, but 82 beat me to it.
GM has had some of the best styling, but when they go bad, they really go bad!

I agree, the aftermarket even looks like the firebird logo a bit.
