At approx. 8:30 am EST this coming Monday Aug. 29, 2022 NASA will launch the biggest vehicle they have launched since the last Saturn V / Apollo 17 launch on May 3, 1973

This should be spectacular. I will be close enough to see and hear it as it goes up.

Maybe I missed it but did they do a test launch to send it into orbit without a crew and then a successful re-entry or is this launch just going on crossed fingers? I trust the engineers with my life but I don't trust the parts that are used.

To my knowledge this is not a crewed mission.

Ah, I missed the last paragraph that states the crew will be aboard Artemis II. So much for my speed reading. I guess I need to slow down in my old age

UPDATE: Artemis-1 is now scheduled for a launch attempt on Saturday, September 3, 2022. The launch window opens at 2:17 p.m. EDT and closes at 4:17 p.m. EDT. What happens if there’s another scrub?
If the launch is scrubbed the next launch window available is Tuesday, September 6.

Considering what happened to the Challenger, "Better Safe than Sorry"...

offshore oddsmakers give it poor odds of completing the mission.
Successful launch is at +2000.
