Whatever I am doing is working (Page 1/2)
MidEngineManiac AUG 31, 01:40 PM
Was at the docs this morning.

1st time in over a decade I am under 225#. I've mostly noticed it in my clothes and stamina.

When we moved here in March a 42 pant was a little snug, It is now a comfortable 40 and heading for 38. Shirts have gone from XXL to XL. Went grocery shopping and pulled home a wagonload of 130 pounds or so today. It took a few rest stops, but 6 months ago I wouldn't have made it 3 blocks with that load. Going there is downhill, coming home is a slight up incline, not much but enough to notice.

And really, only thing I did was stop being a lazy b-turd and driving for every little thing. Nothing in this town is more than a 15-20 minute walk, so if the weather is nice and there is nothing too big to carry or haul with a beach wagon, then there is really very little excuse not to walk. I honestly dont think I have driven in a month or 6 weeks. No reason to and all that walking is paying off.

Still eat whatever i want, still wont go to the gym, still smoke and enjoy my beer, It was just that one single lifestyle change.

That is great....I often see people start their car, then drive to the opposite corner of the block to get a soda or some chips....Starting a cold car is where the maximum amount of wear takes place....But also...GET SOME EXERCISE!!!

I used to go to a mall out in Dublin to buy books or CDs/DVDs...I would park out at the edge of the parking lot- where there was some trees for shade, plus no one near to whack my car...Often, I would see some lady driving up and down the lot isles, looking for the closest spot....I'd walk in, get what I needed, then come out and see the lady just parking...She'd get out of the car, and then- holding her purse way out to clear- she would waddle towards the door. I would sometimes see this basic situation and mumble under my breath, "Save the FAT!"

Labor saving devices are great- as long as you use them sparingly. I have my father's air compressor- but I use a bicycle pump to inflate all of my tires (Bike, car, trailer)...If I need to cut wood, I always try to use a hand saw. And If I can, I ride a bike to the store (Almost every day)

How about this; "Labor-saving" is not "Life-extending"

That's the same mall with El Toritos (or was in 1988)...and that Seniorrita get-me-in-trouble-fast waitress.

Dodged a bullet on that one !!!!!!

Good for you, it can be a struggle and after the last couple of years I find it much easier to just not put on the pants.

So did I Jake, so did I...It's a hell of a struggle

All I can say, dude...it does get better. Someday. I'm not quite ready to go flip anAC500 upside down again, or get on an animal that wants me dead....I dont ever in my life want to deal with cancer again after 3 times....

****it brother...thats what you did yesterday....now get up and face tomorrow, son...You served the country, served the family, and asked nothing in return. Ya ended up broken in a hospital bed with a girl that left...our kind have been doing this since.....forever.

Get the **** up....and yeah, that's the "safety briefing" until you show up with a gallon of moonshine, a ladder, and some RV that needs the shitter dumped !!!

(Seriously, if ya need a redneck talk Jake reach out. Anytime dude)

Yep, I see people start their car to go down their driveway to get their mail . Not because they are disabled, just lazy

When I go grocery shopping every week, I always park as far away from the store entrance as possible. There's always a parking spot, no one is going to be banging the side of my car with their doors, and the walk back and forth (and back and forth again to return the cart) is never a bad thing. However, a few months ago, I almost got caught in the crossfire due to where I park! Literally just a minute or two after I left the parking lot, a guy was shot dead just a few yards from where I was parked. it's kind of unnerving to realize that guys were sitting in their car near me, perhaps waiting for me to leave(!), before executing a local gang member.

36x32 Wrangler jeans. Was once as big as a tight 38 waist but lost it pretty quick.
Bicycle, swim, treadmill and of course, work.
My first big project here was 26 ft of wooden fence replacement. 5 postholes, 36" deep thru mostly caliche rock.

My next little project involves 5 of these:
railroad cross ties

T'was not easy getting them thru the gates from the front yard all the way to the very back corner but got it done (as the Brits say) 'after a fashion"
