They should have just callen Elon. He would have made the asteroid completely disappear for about 1/4 of the cost

Let's give NASA their due: they hit the little (moving) bugger, they nudged it, and they got close-up photos of the process. Plus, no unintended consequences seemed to have arisen. Hopefully they will be able to figure out why the nudge was 300% more effective than calculated. Now, should it have taken $330M and 7 years to do so? That is a different question. With all their experience in space flight this does seem a tad bit slow on the schedule.
