Are they rolling things back now that folks are becoming aware of it? Is this just a "mistake"?
“An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” a PayPal spokesperson told VERIFY in an email.

Can't say I'm surprised. I quit using them a while back, and I didn't really make a lot of transactions. I didn't like a lot of the changes they made over the years, policy changes and website changes.

It's technically correct.

They are NOT fining for misinformation.

They ARE punishing for non-wokeness.

Never used the product.
Had an account but after seeing all of the negative feed back over the years I never used it.

I finally closed my account. There are a LOT of steps, and it's actually worth going through even if you don't plan on closing your account. I had "authorized" dozens and dozens of companies to autocharge me at any point if they wanted to, simply because I paid for something once. They were all listed under "subscriptions," none of which were actually subscriptions. But they were authorized to charge none the less. It took the greater part of an hour, and multiple times I just got an error message with no message attached to it. It wouldn't let me remove some of my payment methods, but finally I sat on the phone, and the lady deleted my account. She didn't ask why, I never bothered to tell her why... but she was in a pissy mood.

888-221-1161 is the number, but you have to call with a phone number that's registered in their system, otherwise it will pick up and hang up.

I've used PayPal for purchasing things online, mostly eBay stuff, for the last 20(?) years. As a Canadian, it's been invaluable (often mandatory) for purchasing items from the States. I've never allowed PayPal to access my bank account for funds, it's always been through a credit card. Haven't had any issues.

Even more simple then that... Is just a money grab ''dress up" as protecting woke trying to stop "misinformation" labeled by very far left and other groups.

PP is trying to add more reasons to drop you same way as Patreon and others for last few years.
Anyone still using Patreon needs to keep emptying the account or risk losing money in seconds after they Ban you at their whims.

I'm working on closing my account. I've just got to figure out where to move the auto payments I have going through it to. :/

I'm really getting sick of these woke a-holes.

Edit to add:

I managed to remove all my cards and the automatic payments. One place I had been thinking about canceling anyway, and this helped me decide. Thanks Paypal for saving me money!

I think I'm going to keep the account with nothing tied to it in case I cannot find a suitable replacement. I need a place that will work at a lot of places and give me some protection if I need to dispute things. I can do that with the credit card, but man they make it a pain.

This was the only thing keeping me from getting rid of it originally... but then I came to realize that I've had problems with PayPal before. I would buy a lot of things on eBay... I have a watch hobby where I buy and sell watches, fix them, rebuild them, etc... and I ran into a number of times where someone would sell me something, and then never actually sent me something. I then got completely screwed by PayPal giving some reason why they couldn't refund my money... "They're not in the country," or... "we can't verify that you didn't actually get anything..." etc. Even though they say 100% guarantee.

So I recognized that even though I used them for safety / security... this was literally the thing they absolutely didn't provide when it came down to it. I liked PayPal because I had trust in them... and I quickly realized that trust was the only thing I had. When they broke that, I no longer had any interest.

For personal interests, I'd like to see you cancel your PayPal account. But the reality is, I'll simply leave it that at this point, anything you'd want to buy with PayPal, you can actually use your credit card... and credit cards offer much better protection than PayPal does.
