I've had wheels that were black chrome and the only warning I can give is how bad the water spotting will be if you don't dry them 100%. The spotting on my wheels was so bad and the water quality so low that the wheels became etched and ruined. Even polish and wax would not remove the spots.

OK, I appreciate the words of experience. Will keep that in mind.

Do you already have a source to do the work?

Not at this point although another friend is investigating a chrome shop to see if they would do it.

Depending on the how large the parts are, we have a reputable shop here in California that does that kind of work. Although shipping might be a pain. Just a thought. https://calchrome.com/black-chrome/

I don't ever want to own anything black again. Between the dust, water impurities and how much heat black 'anything' retains I just don't want much to do with it.

Appreciate the info. The parts are driving light brackets, for what they are, they are pretty large (considering what they support) but, my guess is they won't weigh more than about 4 lbs together. They are already chrome but starting to flake where road debris has impacted them in the past. The original producer is no longer in business but, these parts are highly prized by the Valkyrie community. It's just an idea I'm considering.

I've got "chromium black" wheels on my Fiero, if that counts. I might have liked if they were more chromium and less black. No complaints regarding sturdiness of the finish, but I've only had them for a few weeks.
