Motorcycle stereo (Page 1/2)

Anybody know of a good handle-bar mount (all-in-one) type that has AM radio function ? (only good country station around here is AM band). MUST have a display because I hate scan-only types.

Something along the lines of this (Light bar is just a bonus, not a requirement)

or this

If I really-really have to I could make a case and go with a marine unit, and separate speakers, but I do kind of like the ease and clean look of the all-in-one type

(marine head unit)

And no, I do not want to bother with all the fuss of using my phone as an AM radio to the aux input on the bike stereo. Too much trouble.

Don't know anything about the units asked about. I have an AM/FM unit that was given to me. Was told it works but never put it on.
If you want it, pay for shipping and it's yours. But to be honest, it looks like crap (IMHO) and I have no idea if it works.

Here are some pics of what I was given that I'm willing to pass on.

You won't hurt my feelings if this isn't what you want. I offer it up just cause I know I won't be using it and it was given to me.

MEM could use those speakers the way those kids in London use mirrors.

I really appreciate the offer, but that's exactly the kind of set-up I am trying to avoid. With batteries, controller, motor LCD screen, GPS, antenna, lighting, turn signals, ect there is already a nightmare of wiring going on. I'm trying real hard not to add more

I can 3D print some pieces and make up my own all-in-one out of that marine thing, but thats a lot of work if something is already available on the market.

It's no problem for me, I'll take it to the next Valkyrie InZane Event and pass it on to someone. Or, it'll stay in the hotel trash bin. It's just taking up space on my shelves.
OK, now that we've got that issue resolved, how about you look into the issue of Canadians coming down here, overstaying their VISA and then using a hammer for an other than intended use.

<shrugs>

While I do (embarrassingly) admit I lived in Northern Cali...I never over-stayed my visa, made S.F. a VERY wide no-go-zone, and have never used a hammer for anything besides it's 3 intended purposes. Namely.. driving nails, bashing things loose, and smashing fingers. (my own).

Hell, I was last week years old when I learned hammers and underwear even HAVE a purpose together.

Come to think of it....I am still totally confused about how a pistol grip increases fire rate and lethality over a conventional grip.

If you mean..

Just plinking about, it makes little difference but with serious use, it makes a lot of difference.
Weight of rifle and ammo aside, the angle you have to hold your wrist on the M1 and M-14 in sustained fire scenarios was leading to damage to ligaments and wrist area bones. This is something was was known as far back as ww2 with the M1s. Spend all day firing a conventionally stocked high velocity rifle and at the end of the day, your firing hand wrist on the semi-pistol grip will be sore more so than your shoulder. This is even more exaggerated when firing 3 round bursts and really evident on full auto. That area takes a beating because it's un-natural to hold your trigger hand & wrist at that sharp almost horizontal position.
Also much easier to maintain control if your firing hand is close vertical as with the M-16 type if in muddy, wet, or icy conditions.
There's a reason the m-60 machine gun of the same era came with a pistol grip and not the semi pistol grip the BAR did.

But, I still contend that the M14 was one of the finest weapons the US ever made.

I qualified as an "Expert" with the M 14. Hated the M 16. I eventually got there but, those three shot groups took a lot of practice to get into the center of the target. Not so much with the M 14.
