Anyone else experiencing less ACTUAL social interaction? (Page 1/2)

I KNOW its not just ME, but when I ask others, they end up murmuring off... And few seem to actually care that this is happening.

The media says "oooh record traffic!!!" and whatnot, but all I see is less of everything. When asked, no one did nothin' for the holiday, where they used to 'do stuff' with family. Maybe its an East-Coast thing...? We got some family together, but few folks we talked to did...

how was your Thanksgiving? what do you plan on doing for Christmas/other holidays?

Its very depressing, we wanted to go back to Ohio for a visit it just didn't work out.
Have no plans other than going to the local pub for a pint.

The following meme about sums up my feelings during the worst of the pandemic. IMO, social interaction is often an unnecessary nuisance.

Not much changed for me. Went back to East Texas for Thanksgiving albeit a short quick trip. Family get together Wed night (Mexican food) then the big dinner with the extended family on Thursday. Sandwiched in was my old friends and neighbors coming by to see me or me going to see them. Returned back to Central Texas Thursday night.
It's a little different here at my new locale, as I still don't know a lot of people, but I'm sure as heck seeing lots of new medical folks.

Like MJ, I'm still in a fairly new place... only been in Tampa since June of 2021. I work from home now, so it's rare that I get the opportunity to actually interact with the people at work.

To be completely honest, I'd love to retire and move back into my old house (which I'm renting out) in Fort Lauderdale. I know a lot of people down there. The home is almost paid off, and if I sold this one, I'd have it paid off plus cash to just sit on. I wouldn't need to work. But, I want to pay for my daughter's college, and I'm just not yet ready to throw in the towel... but I'm not totally inspired either.

I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up.

But yes... aside from the fact that I work from home, in other aspects of my life, there are still many things that haven't "returned to normal," and I'm not sure they will any time soon.

Right at the end of the Covid lock-down, I went to a Chevy's (Mex' restaurant) for some of their salsa....There was a number of people going in and out, plus a number waiting to be seated.....Scared the heck out of me; I am not an extremely social person anyway, but after a year of avoiding almost everyone....Wow.....

Considering I did not miss a day of work even at lockdown, and was one of 3 people in the building for a couple weeks, I refuse to be less social unless the others required me to. Wear a mask as required by my company but, otherwise only if people are coughing or looking sick. 2 years out got the weaponized Chinese virus, yea it was the flu.
Thanksgiving the Sunday before with about 30 people of my wife's family and maybe 20 on Thursday with an international group of her elementary friends. Christmas will be with my family from 5 different cities. I am not super randomly social but, I have that tree hobby and that brings a bunch of random visitors.

One thing for sure, I miss the covid years when it comes to traffic - the drive was so much nicer in those days. lol
