Sheet Metal Nibblers (Page 1/2)

I am real familiar with the regular electric jaw-type and thats actually what I went looking for on Amazon, then I came across these

Anybody tried that style ? Looks like it might leave a more finished edge than the traditional type, and be a little easier to cut curves with but thats just guessing by looking at it.

That thing looks kinda hokey, looks like that support bar that goes around the handle is to resist rotation. Ive used this style and they go thru anything like butter, curves and all

Thats the kind I had and am used to. It was great for straight lines and gentle curves, but a pita for tighter curves. had to kind of chip away at it.

I think the rod on the drill one is supposed to be a hand-guard . It just wraps around the battery so I cant see it holding much.

I got one of these but haven't used it yet. Not this exact model, but same type of situation...

Saw it being used at an event, it sliced through the metal like butter and the curves looked great

I wouldn't buy it.

Go with the best, ruck the rest. I have used powered metal nibblers and metal shears. Mine are in the $400.00 range, new. I don't have a nibbler but I do have a shear. Got it in almost new condition. Milwaukee brand, $40.00.

I have never used it. I have wasted $40.00 on beer, .

For reference, I used to put up metal building. I have never used anything like that, nor the other suggestions mentioned.

What shape(s) do you wanna 'nibble?

That style I posted above can do crazy little curves. Don't know how long the 'cutting bar' lasts, but its handy.

I want to try making some pieces for the chopper and side-car project. I'm not entirely happy with the way the foam-and-leather-on-coreplast turned out so am trying riveted/painted sheet metal.

I looked at some review videos of what TDA's will do and for 40 bucks I am trying that 1st !! Wont be pushing it too hard since my sheet metal stash is salvaged side and door panels from a couple old bar fridges

Lesse if Amazon can get it here before xmas. I was surprised with the handlebar stereo, they said 3 weeks from China and it got here in 1.

Just jump in with both feet. Buy some hammers and an english wheel. Before long you will be like that guy who built a replica D-type Jag in his garage.
