Leggo my Lung Functions... waffle-maker Eggo fined $85K toxic gas leak San Jose, CA (Page 1/1)

I like it when the headlines "write themselves".

"The fine stems from a January 2021 pipe leak at a San Jose factory that [caused] the release of 3,400 pounds of anhydrous ammonia into the surrounding neighborhood."

"Eggo managers failed to call 911 until over an hour passed, believing they had stopped the leak. During the delay, 3,400 pounds of anhydrous ammonia escape[d] the factory into the surrounding neighborhood, [forcing] residents to shelter in place for several hours until the leak was stopped, prosecutors said. However, no injuries were reported[.]"

It was four years ago that three employees of a hockey rink here in BC all died as a result of an ammonia leak. You just can't fool around with that stuff.

You need Ammonia to make waffles???

Earlier this year my wife went to visit her sister for a few days and when I was at the store I thought, perfect chance to get a box of Eggos! They were horrible: smaller than what I remember AND they tasted like cardboard. I wouldn't take a box now, even if they were giving them away.

They must have been using anhydrous ammonia as a refrigerant. The product is frozen waffles.

Notorio, try some Belgian waffles- they are much better (Even in frozen variety)

I used to eat a couple of the Eggo low fat variety (Regular) waffles every morning before going to work back before I retired....Every time I bought them or pulled the box out of the freezer I would state in a deep voice, "low fat!" (Sounds like the main villain in the old (original) (Good) Hawaii Five-O....

The Belgian waffles are very good (But I can't eat them anymore because of Gluten sensitivity brought on by Lupus)
