I want to know who ends up paying for all of this. I suspect the truck probably had wheel spacers, which means the vehicle was probably not in compliance with the insurance requirements... so they may decline to pay, and ultimately, the truck driver is going to get sued... I'd guess. Absolutely crazy how that tire launched the car up and off the ground. I'm sure the fact that it was already moving in that direction, supported the ability for it to pull the car over it and launch it up.

Tires, they're everywhere !

Reminds me of the pipeline saddle that fell off a tractor trailer, decades ago, up on #11 in the Temagami.
100 mph closing speed, a giant concrete block appeared above the hood of the car, horrific.
Moose are the usual roadkillers, sometimes, half the time, over 1000 lbs.

The driver in Chatsworth likely didn't see the tire, holding the wheel until landing.
Usually, flight ends in sadness.
Many moving parts to automotive travel.

Watch it again. After the car came to it's stop, the tire came back and attacked the car again.

Either the spindle broke or the cotter pin failed. Most likely whoever put the rotor on screwed up.

The wheel and rotor were already loose when the pickup came into view. The driver should have been able to feel that.

You can see the rotor still attached to the wheel.

' And it looks to me that the truck driver just flew away like hell. '

Uh, no.
He safely pulled over to the right shoulder on three tires, without hitting anything.
Last visible at 0:24.

Dodging traffic to retrieve the tire and wheel parts attached to it.
Hub Failure, or, brake disc cracked, inside the bolt circle.
At 0:10 you can see the wheel has already departed the spindle, 10-ply LT tire on factory wheel.
A giant traffic jam, east bound Ronald Reagan Freeway, two hours to clear, backed up ten miles to Simi Valley.
' How inconvenient '
