Video by Simone Giertz , Audio by yours truly. I Imported a SoundCloud clip of Sir David into Elevenlabs, wrote the narration, and tossed it into chatGTP for a bit of 'polishing'.

Unfortunately, ElevenLabs no longer allows the uploading of a voice clip. Do you have experience with any other free AI text to speech apps that may still allow this?[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 04-06-2023).]

Wow, did they say WHY?
I paid a buck for a month of it. You can cancel within 30 days, but it's only like 5 bucks a month if you are going to keep using it...

No... it's just not possible to select Get Free any longer, and I'm too cheap to pay $5 (for Access to Instant Voice Cloning) simply to try something for the first time. [This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 04-07-2023).]

It's all lines in the sand at this point. I decided to toss them a few bucks to distract me from my life and the world for a few precious minutes. Simone mentioned the pipe dream of DA narrating her clip, and I took a few minutes to fulfill her wish. It has made about 500,000 people say "hah" on Youtube, TikTok (and maybe 5,000 be mildly dismayed). and I think she maybe made like 20 bucks (whoo-ho) . And for us, having people enjoy the silly stuff we do makes us smile.
So for me, it was worth the 5 bucks.
Also, we cloned a few other voices and had some fun (in private) at a few of our friends expense...Which was fun. I enjoy AI, I like robots. buuuut...*tears way all the dumb stuff*
I'm ACTUALLY interested in this stuff because of a more personal reason - our daughter lost her voice suddenly about 4 years ago, and we would like to reconstruct her voice using the few fragments we have of her talking on video so we can program physical buttons so she can press them to convey to us what she wants..in her own voice.
The one thing I'm not a fan of is the limited number of words - you only get a certain number per month at a certain $$$.

I was NOT happy with the result I got from two of the voices I attempted to clone. (well, actually, the results WERE very good 'voices", but they were NOT the voices I wanted to hear. they were "kinda close" but not close enough that someone hearing them would name the person I attempted to clone. and the limited number of words is kind of annoying.
I dunno, I keep feeling like all the 'dancy prancy' stuff we are doing now/discussing now will not matter at all two years from now. The major upcoming "florbs" will just be such an incredible tsunami it will be incredibly difficult to turn our minds back to recall a time before the "florbs".
*picks up a modem, examines it for a moment and puts it back on the shelf*
Time for bed.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear of your daughter's loss... but yeah, I can certainly see why you'd like to be able to "clone" her voice for her to use!
