Any Numismatics Here?

Came across a coin that may or may not have some value.
It's a 1862 US copper Penny. To me it's in pretty good condition, but, that doesn't mean much. Just my opinion. It's about the size of a half dollar.

Not sure if I should drill a hole in it and make it into a unique key fob or give it to my new grandson for it's potential value down the road.

Edited: It seems this coin was last produced in 1857 (at least coins that look like it) so, we're thinking it may read 1852. I'll be damned if I know. Shrug........

Don't drill a hole in it, you sillyhead!

Briefly florping around online, I see that it's either worth 20-30 bucks, 200-300 bucks, or a lot more if its one of the "rare" ones.

Took some advice from a friend and let the coin sit in ketchup for a few hours. I’m now advised that is not a good idea but, it did clean up the tarnished coin.

Giving it to my Seven Month old grandson. Might be worth something someday.

That's a good decision nowadays, since you can't buy anything anymore for a penny... In my day, penny gumball machines were still common.
