What Kind Of Tool Do I Need ? (Page 1/2)
cliffw MAY 03, 11:35 AM
I have a piece of pipe slightly out of round on one end. Chain link fence, line post pipe, though that is not what I want to use it for.

I need to true it up. I need something I can hammer down inside the open end. A cone shape is what I think I need. Like a plumb bob but not brass. Like a uni bit, but I would not use such a tool for an unintended use.

Suggestions ?

Or another pipe with an OD the size of the ID of the one you want to "true up"?

Sage, why didn't I think of that. This will not go over well when I tell my Wife I need a Fart Tool.

Looking at the price of some of those tools in Sage's link, might it be cheaper just to buy a new pipe?

Nah!. You'd still have enough left over to buy a couple of cases of Lone Star.

Well, you could always just find a tree branch and whittle it down to the right size....stick it in the pipe and beat it into submission! (or a lathe might make it easier/faster... ) Agreed, maybe a new piece of pipe would be cheaper...but then you wouldn't have a pipe expander next time you needed one!LOL
