What are you reading if you can read? (Page 1/1)

Obviously you aren't reading this if you can't! 🤣

Got a few things I've liked lately. Currently reading "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy. I am spellbound by his description of..well...pretty horrifying stuff. The author gives me a Bob Dylan vibe, using the most clever words for fullest effect, regardless that the subject matter is violent and the imagery disturbing, he makes it somehow "flowery." This is an excellent, but really violent, novel so far.

I have also been reading short stories by my favorite horror author, Karl Edward Wagner. I just finished "Where the Summer Ends" which is a great short story about a lurking horror found in hot, humid Tennessee. Another of his shorts, "Sticks" is my favorite story of all time..if you can find it because it's rarely in print, it's worth the one hour investment.

What/who are you guys reading?

I like to read.

The book I am reading now is "Love Stories From The Bible", by Shannon Breem,

I read so much, I forget the author and the title of the books. I have read some good stuff, all entertaining.

At the moment I am re-reading Starship Troopers by Heinlein....One of my favorite books.

If you can enjoy Sci-Fi, and like funny stories...Try "Who Goes Here" by Bob Shaw (Yes, "HERE")....It's the story of a guy who joins the Space Legion- instead of just taking you to foreign country/world, they actually remove memory of your having done something wrong...a few days-maybe a month of your memory.

Warren Peace has ALL of his memory erased- people hear this and tell him "You must have been a MONSTER!" It gets more ridiculous from there....

I have let numerous friends read my (Spare) copy...all of them really enjoy it- except one who was "Why is it so funny? That's stupid!" (No sense of humor)

They should make a movie of this story!

The Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe.
OE Dune books. Most of Son's books are not worth reading but 2 "Final" books tells who "wins" but have to read other books to understand WTF characters sprung at end and even in Chapterhouse....

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.

For almost 15 years, I hadn't bothered to read any fiction at all. I just never got around to it. But the past two years, I've tried to force myself to read some fiction and I've really enjoyed it. I've been reading a lot of novels from a writer who's name is Darcey Coates: https://darcycoates.com/

She basically writes ghost and horror stories... they've been awesome. I've read like 6 of them already and I can't get enough of them. Way better than spending time on social media!!!
