Perfectly suitable for custom foundry castings.

I guess that's different than the thermite grenades I used to carry every mission in case we went down & had to destroy the Tacan unit and/or melt the 50 cal's receiver..

What is the biggest ball bearings you have fondled ? A rotary table in the oilfield can have up to 5' diameter ball bearings. I might still have some 3/4 of a foot in diameter.

On the order of 2' inner diameter, an auxiliary power distribution gearbox, a 18" wall thickness weldment.
Nuke power plant project, '94 or so, all kinds of similar work.

A medium reduction gearbox being rough machined, plain bearings, the oil recovery recirculation cavities are visible.
The shiny quill is 130mm, ~ 5-1/8", to show relative size of the weldment.

The largest shaft, about 3' diameter for a heavy shear, the pin of a gigantic scissor, steel mill recycling application, '97, Hamilton Ont..
Plain babbitt bearings to carry shock loads, the steel castings were of the 1910s era, from a foundry in Pennsylvania, quite massive.

All of that, and more, decades of it.

It was fun work, always something new and different, demanding.

What "bearing" does all of this have on anything? : )

(I'll shut up now)

A lot of grinding mills for rock and coal use very large balls that can be much larger than a conventional bowling ball.
