Not surprised, folks just can’t be stealin’ stuff

I sure won’t say that it’s not annoying, but there are a bunch of stores like this in NYC…

I do a lot of my shopping online, the local stores don’t carry the diapers and other items we need to get. *shrugs*

Looks like the old Service Merchandise store model. Loved that store.

Used to be a retail chain here called Consumers Distributing. That's exactly how they operated in the 70's and 80's.

Finally someone who remembers that chain. We had one in San Mateo California. Great store along with it's 1000 page catalog.

Kind of before my time. I vaguely recall. You had a display and took them a placard slip? Toy's R US did something like that and I remember being upset I couldn't hold and look at the box until check out. Probably a Nintendo...

On topic:
Don't shop there. I watched someone shoplifting from CVS across from where I live. Manager couldn't do much. Just walked the young man toward the door asking for their merchandise back. Pockets rattling. Hev acted dumb and left with all their stuff.

My job takes me over multiple states and I recently needed some items at a Home Depot. Most of the trade isles that contractors would need were caged with locks. You could look & see but Noooo touchy feeley. You had to track down an attendant and have them open the gate to get what you needed. The attendant also doubled as a guard while you made up your mind. They might as well been wearing security uniforms because not all of them had keys.

All of that because I was short 1 conduit electrical connector worth less than $1.25.

The funniest part about the cages happened to me at a local Home Depot. The spray paint is locked away and the old guy at the paint register was busy so he whispered that the code was 1234. I tried it and helped myself.

We had one called McDade's, but I am not sure if it was national or just a Chicago thing. They had good electronics, cameras, etc. I saved up and bought a radio there and then got in trouble from my dad who said I should have just put it on my Christmas list.... Christmas was just seven months away!

Walmart is testing delivery/pickup only models down here in Walmart land. You can't even go in the stores they have opened. I figure it's great all the way around, less cleaning and a lot less stolen stuff.
