In very short version...
8500 gallons of 87 octane gas mostly burned. Some run thru street drains to river.
As of this post... Already pulled out collapse NB section to get the body of Truck Driver. SB side will knockdown likely soon because metal is now too weak. Concrete for sides holding up the bridge likely bad too so need to pull down that too.
This won't be fast to fix.
If really cared about traffic... Some "quick" options... Close NB Cottman Ave exit indefinitely. Can fill the gap w/ "dirt" and pave soon.
Could even shore up SB side in several ways and be open that in days to weeks. Maybe w/ reduce speed and lanes.
Then use whatever time to figure out final fix.
Many Years ago similar happen w/ DE 495 high bridge near Port of Wilmington. Gas tanker over the side and burn the bridge. Was shut down for months then open to cars only w/ limited lanes. Even tho 95 is parallel, is weight, height and width restricted and still cause large headaches for years.
Illegal tire pile and another gas tanker burned elevated sections and other bridges cause same problems in the region.
Only thing was "fix fast" was "recent" illegal dumping cause same DE 495 high bridge to move but even that cause bridge closed for months. Super Short: Remove the illegal dump and drive new piles to Bed Rock and jack the the bridge back to right shape.

Well being Philly, you can bet there will be shootings, road rage, and other crimes during this traffic nightmare.

Wow... Penn DOT IS going to filling the gap w/ special "dirt" then pave over to keep 3, likely narrow, lanes open each way. "Dirt" made recycled Glass called "Aero Aggregate" w/ steel cage(s) to hold in place.
No time table but should happen sooner then a lot later.
NB Exit will stay closed until done however long it takes to rebuild the inner section of the bridge.

Note that I believe SB already had "squeeze lanes" and push to center because of work just below the bridge and likely part of why rebuild this way.

6ABC and likely others now mirror PennDOT camera.
Note that some people think the 2 arms ends w/ hose are Concrete Pumps... Is Not. They are "stacked" conveyor belts to adjust the span and end w/ hose so anyone on the ground can arm the "Foam Glass." Think can raise high but not like Concrete Pumps that can lift vertically and other weird ways.
Product is dry premade foam glass from recycle glass. Is likely the glass come from cities etc that allow "single stream" recycling that mix glass colors and have little or no value for most glass uses.

Between 7pm and now the filling w/ "glass foam" seen to have Finish. Even the conveyors are move out or gone.
Have no data how their going to top off then pave the road.
