I'm writing a book! (Page 1/3)

Crazy, right? I'm deep in this thing so I'm looking for viewers to help propel it.

So that's a sample clip if a book I'm writing. Would appreciate any constructive criticisms, declarations of enjoyment...as well as likes and subscribes. 🙂 I know the link is not going to be direct, I can't seem to find the right code with my phone. (if someone is willing to help out, thank you ]

Yes, that's my voice 🤣 Thanks guys I hope you enjoy it.

Writing is like acting. Anyone can do it, but very few can do it well. It seems simple, but it is actually very difficult.

But the only way to get better is to keep doing it. Many great authors would not want people to read the first story or poem they wrote. But you have to keep writing to get good at writing.

I am not saying your story is bad. I have not heard enough to have any idea how good it might be. I am just saying don't give up just because people don't rave over your first work.

Ted, you have soul. You will do fine.

If nothing else you should start looking into narration and voice over. Before the AI take over.

Subscribed and shared for what its worth.
Looking forward to the rest of it.

Thanks fellas, just getting going. I've been writing 2-3 pages a day but have a weekend with no car work planned for once so I'm about to sit down and get some real work done. Wrote a chapter last night at work but it needs some serious editing... sometimes things do not go as smooth as other times.

Appreciate the comments, and yeah I definitely am thinking of getting into narration Jake. I feel like a lifetime of smoking finally paid off 🤣

This is exactly how it works. The exercise of actually writing forces you to analyze the project in a different way than just sitting around thinking about what you are going to write.

Think of it like carving or working with clay. You have a good idea of what you want to do before you start, but when you actually start doing the work you can "feel" what needs to change.

It is hard to imagine how writers worked before computers or word processors. I guarantee that as your story evolves you will be going back and changing things from the beginning that you have already written.

Hi TBone! It's great! Are you going to be publishing it? Or is it going to be online only?

Anyway, just wanted to give you props... I think there's lots of great stories waiting to come out, they just need the right person to get them into text. I've written a lot of papers and technical manuals... so never fiction, but my experience is that the first chapter ends up always being my worst chapter. As I get into my "groove," I find myself completely re-writing the first chapter over again. I also found it helpful to just get my ideas into type as quickly as I can as it streams from my head. It usually comes out well the first time, but I'll change it around as I re-read it several times.

It's important to REALLY understand those words up there.
Lean in on what you like, you'll eventually find an audience. Don't "do it for the likes"

good luck

Thanks Todd and DA! Feedback and experience means a lot to me.

I am writing this because I have to. This story has been cultivated in my head from the last 25 years when it began with a 3 person audience when I first told part of the tale.

Because it has to live, it's not about "making it" or moving readers but that would be a nice side effect of the work put in. For me, there is this other world that needs to live more than just in my mind...I feel like I owe it life of it's own.

Getting a new laptop next week so I can get more organized. Everything has been pen on paper and my whole work space is cluttering up.

Listened to your excerpt on YouTube, it's awesome. I'd love to see the entire book. How's everything going for you now? Besides being an interesting writer, you sound like a pro. I've come across dozens of audiobooks where the narrator sounds terrible, and I've deleted the book just because of that. In college, I tried writing about personal experiences. Using examples from https://edub...tive-essays/ made it somewhat bearable, but only for grading purposes. I decided that becoming a writer wasn't for me, so I continue my passion as a reader. Or lately, as a listener, which is more convenient.
