I really need help with this one. I'm drawing a complete blank as to what it's called. The chrome hook piece.

You are both correct, though Mr. Pennock's answer is more specific.

My inquiring mind wants to know why you wanted the information. My oilfield experience had me using many of those. I have one key chain size, and used to have one boat anchor size.

Also, any old clevis is not allowed in the oil patch. They must be safety clevis'. (Which will not allow the screw mechanism to back out. Many are used overhead.

Thanks for all the replies on this. I could not remember what it was called but now I know.

Cliffw, I use a different style of pull down bar for working out. It has a 1/2 hole drilled with a brass grommet where the caribiner clip goes through. The issue is that when you have too much weight, the brass grommet gets deformed and destroyed so I was going to use the bow shackle as the hook point. Basically unscrew the shackle and thread it through the brass grommet. Then tighten it up so it won't move. The brass grommet will be sandwiched between the shackle ends and the loop will attach to the caribiner. Basically I'm using it for stress relief of the part.

I have found a thousand uses for something called a Gripple. Bought them for using on high tension barbless wire but they come in many different configurations and weight classes.

Damn, I learned something new. Here I am calling vendors to repair barb wire along the tops of our fences and I could be using this product and save a TON of money. Thank you for that information Don.
