Why is advertising on facebook/instagram so difficult? (Page 1/1) Cliff Pennock OCT 22, 07:59 AM I've been struggling with this for years. I post an event on facebook but then when I want to promote that event on facebook and/or instagram it's like walking around the jungle without a compass... At first, I made the mistake of creating the event using my "normal" account. Because when you do, there's no way to promote it. Apparently, you need a "business page" for that. Fine. So now I have created an event using my business page and on the facebook event page, I see a button "Promote Event". If I click that, I get a very simple page to promote the event with very little options. I can choose my target group, running time, and budget. That's about it. Nowhere can I choose where it should promote the event. I'm guessing it will only promote on facebook. Another option is by going to Facebook's Ad Manager. Oh boy... As simple as the "Promote Event" page was, as complicated the Ad Manager is. I need to create Marketing Objectives, Ad Campaigns, Ad Sets, and a whole bunch of other things. Oh, and I couldn't find the option to promote an event anywhere... So how do you do it? I have an event and I would like to simply promote that on facebook and instagram, just insert the ad into people's feed and when they click it, it needs to take them to the event page on facebook. I was looking for a reason why someone couldn't send me a friend request, and got sent in circles. And try arguing with them when you run afoul of their "censors" - whatever those are. I've seen people get their accounts restricted for some of the dumbest reasons. Completely non-sensical. And un-arguable. I really hate car groups on Facebook because you can't seem to search or find anything because it's all pushed down quickly.
