A driver tried to crash through the exit gates of a South Carolina nuclear plant Thursday night about an hour after security asked the same car to leave when it tried to enter, authorities said.

Security didn't get the plate info during the initial incident?!?

In my opinion, this should have been a case of security using deadly force.

At our nuclear facility at Diablo Canyon, he would have been shot dead on site. Our officers patrol with AR style weapons drawn at all times just for this type of incident.

I think at some point... this country is going to have to face the growing mental health crisis. It seems to be mostly isolated to the US and Canada, and increasingly Europe. The question is why?

Ideological radicalism aside, this doesn't seem to be something you see throughout the middle east, Africa, or other parts of the world. Of course you can find articles if you look for them, but it's no where near in the frequency that we have here in the "west" when you compare the size of the populations. I wonder if it's something in our food, something in our water, or social media, or ... who knows?

This is an important question. there are "crazy nutjobs" in every society, but the US sure has its share. Literally every time I am in the city, I encounter at least one violent or potentially violent one. They are typically easy to avoid, but sitting outdoors outside a restaurant or sitting on a train leaves you vulnerable. I don't have much personal experience of other places, but in the US, There is not enough funding for mental health. how many mas murderers warned people about what they were going to do? or authorities were aware, but didn't/couldn't do anything? and a lot of folks are on meds that don't really help them, or they stop taking them... its a messy situation with no clear solution(s)...
