Where's the QBasic gorillas throwing exploding bananas?

I remember Another World. I recall it being touted as some kind of technological masterpiece, but I never knew or understood why.

I owned the game on SNES? I don't think I ever got close to finishing the game. It always felt eerie, I think.

EDIT. That penguin thing looked cool as heck. Almost like a Flappy Bird or similar on mobile phones.

Just watched some of the walk-through. Only a 30 minute game and silly complex. No wonder I never finished it.

I had it for the PC, "Out of this world/Another world." same game.... Loved the intro and the first 20 minutes of gameplay. Creepy Slug guys. Creepier big alien bear thing.Your "MyFoobar" friend... but the gun/shield/limited ammo stuff was complicated (for me) ... put up a shield, shoot the other guy's shield, set up another dhield... I got about halfway through the game. You just end up flying away with the Foobar friend on a dragon...

Thanks! That was cool... though I do think they missed out a LOT by not including stuff from say 1975 through 1990. That's where the real transformation went as we transitioned from straight text games made with ANSI / ASCII graphics, and the transition from Hercules Monochrome (Green or Amber) to CGA, EGA, MCGA, VGA, XGA, and finally to SVGA

Like MJ, I loved both Nibbles.BAS and Gorillas.BAS that came with DOS 5.0.

But this game really made an impact on me... it was the first computer game that I'd ever bought (parents bought it for me for Christmas, I was 8, so... heh).

I enjoyed the first 20 minutes or so also. Yes the gun was complicated and overall a frustrating game. I had it as Out of the World, I think. As expensive as games were (for us) then, this title was wasted on me. It still is, I didn't even finish watching the 30 minute walkthrough. The difficulty was probably too ambitious for me then anyway. I had to go back multiple years later to finish A Link to the Past.

I never thought the graphics looked good. They seemed lesser to me even. Was it just the tech they were using? I don't know how or why I got the game, but I am guessing I saw a magazine bragging about the graphics and that is why I wanted or got it. Not for me I guess.

Space War was great... there's another whole series of text games called Zork, which I've never really played. I built a CP/M handheld system that connects via terminal / serial port... but I've been trying to figure out how to get those games on there... some people wer elike... it's easy, you just do blah blah... and I'm like, if I don't already have software on there, how the hell do I do it? There's no disk drives... not even a tape drive. Maybe the expected me to type out the code? I can't imagine... I'll eventually figure it out.
