"Access Denied"

Not sure if that's only for me (that it's blocking traffic from the NL).

The link works for me, here in Central Texas.
Yes, the book would be handy as a quick reference, depending how LITTLE one knows already or how far into your studies you may be.
It would be important that it be an updated version (the latest and greatest) since NEC is ever changing. **

I was trained in Avionics in the Navy- and fixed computers at Atari in 1982....repaired wiring on aircraft (mainly S-3s but also A-6s and a few P-3s) for 15 years....But some things about house wiring are really difficult for me to understand.

Case in point; my 1902 house has "Knob & Tube" wiring in the attic- I would like to convert to modern wiring and then heavily insulate the attic- but trying to do the conversion myself just has me stymied.

Most of the reviews on that book on Amazon are very good- the bad reviews are about a fake/photocopied version with pages stuck together and blurry wording- make sure the one you get at Home Depot is good (You can take it back if not) (Obviously)

Real men don't need a map or even ask directions, ; .

My home was wired in 1959. No grounded electrical outlets. How would I update safety ?

Do not jumper neutral to ground in the receptacle box or on the receptacle.

IF, you know for sure, which outlet in any given circuit is the most upstream outlet (the one from which all others in the SAME circuit is fed) then you only need to install a gfci in that box. Or, you can install a gfci BREAKER in the distribution panel feeding that circuit, but my experience with those things has been less than satisfactory.

I would use the old wire to pull thru some Romex or the flexible conduit, both two conductor to ground. Not particularly fun but it is doable. Doesn’t work with the old two wire with the ceramic holders as everything is screwed to the 2x4s..

Christopher Titus was taught at a young age about electrical safety........

If you have never watched the Titus TV show, it is one of my favorites....But I will warn you- for some people it cuts to close to home. My ex-GF broke down in tears after watching a few episodes- she had survived a horrible childhood. Best episode ever; "Intervention" where they try to get poppa Titus to START drinking again (Be careful what you wish for...)
