re:AI Doom (Page 1/1)

This is a project that has you "playing Doom" at 20 frames per second, but its not running the DOom engine, its an AI that has been trained on Doom + an Ai Image generator (kicking out 20 frames a second)

Video below:

Today, I’m diving into an AI-generated version of the 1993 classic, DOOM, brought to life by groundbreaking research from a team at Google DeepMind. We’ll explore how this technology is reshaping game development, what makes this such a big deal, and of course, we’ll answer the burning question—why DOOM?

I'd rather watch an AI generated version of the host of that video that doesn't look up at the ceiling (like this... ) every few seconds. I'm sorry, I find him rather irritating to watch.

I really wish more folks truely comprehended what is going on here…

I’m not saying that even I know…

Ryan Hess, you still around?!?

That other guy that used Captain America as his Avatar…?

This is not just another “Will it “Run Doom” thing…

I am not disagreeing about the “issues” surrounding this person’s delivery, but this is NOT a minor thing here…

You are playing “Doom” without ANY of the game engine or sprites involved with the game…

It’s pretty crazy.

Sorry, I couldn't get past the guy's "delivery"... but you're preaching to the choir (me) about AI here. I find what AI is able to do is astounding... but in regards to this particular facet of AI technology, it's rather wasted on me as I've never been a gamer. However, I suspect this is a literal game changer.

Sorry man - the clip I shared was one of the first I found where the person speaking wasn't "over the top" annoying. (the other few were painful). My brain isn't concerned with this being applied to games, its just that a 'thing' is able to totally recreate an explorable environment by experiencing the original environment and then explaining everything to a second thing, which turns around and displays it on a screen.

My interest in all of this stuff is---> I hope they will be able to create a non-invasive way( a wearable, not an implant) to read a person's thoughts and then verbalize them. They made some great progress right up until the pandemic... and it's finally starting to be worked on again. even 30 words would be SUCHa night aand day difference...

Oh man, I wouldn't want to be wearing one of those devices in public!

Here's is another clip with the display's full refresh rate (the other clip didn't have the dome, so the refresh rate was less)

It's pretty awesome... but it seems like loading DOOM on anything and everything is becoming a trend. I like it. I grew up playing Doom... and it's cool to see it "still alive" in so many different forms.
