The auto stop/start is a pain. I thought about just unplugging the hood latch, but instead picked up one of the disable products listed as option 3 in the video. Since she normally drives it I did not want to unplug the hood latch. Easy to install, just popped out the switch, pugged it in, and popped the switch back in. Since she does not drive much it may take longer than a couple of months to fail but I’ll update when it does. I agree... it seems crazy to me to continuously start and stop the engine. I really wish the Government would say... "We need you to achieve X mpg..." rather than say, "We need you to achieve X mpg, and here's how we want you to do it..." I took a road trip with a team and the driver would drop the car into neutral at stops so it would stay running. If you slip it into neutral as your stopping, it'll shut off the engine. As soon as you step on the clutch, it restarts. PITA. I'm going to try to disable it. Hopefully in software. There's a few videos out there explaining why the system doesn't put 'wear and tear' on the starter (the engine isn't completely "off" on some of these) I haven't watched them. I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy the 19 buck thingie and see what happens.
