Level Of Maturity On The Forum (Page 1/14)
FieroJones JUN 17, 07:35 PM
Perhaps its just me, but lately, it seems like there are a WHOLE bunch of either immature, or just plain umm... annoying(?) people on the Forum. Is it just me? Now, I am no saint either, BUT I do post everywhere, and try to help out as much as possible. I dont belittle anyone, keep all my smart a$$ comments to myself, unless the person on the other end *KNOWS* that it is a joke. I also have a good enough self esteem to not have to post in here everytime some little bump comes along. Granted, I AM only 22, but then again, I'm married (hapilly), have a house payment, a good job, etc etc.. I didnt always have it, but instead of whining about it, I fixed it. Seems lately on here tho, all we get is "My life sucks soo bad" or "I'm soo depressed for something stupid and small" threads, that I barely even open PFF. I wish that GEN and TEC had more traffic in them, to compensate for this..

Also, since I am on a rant, I guess, Is it a requirement to post on PFF a TON of posts saying "I wish I could help" "I wish I could buy that" "If I had the money..." Seems theres alot of that going around as well.

At least, the flamewars appear to have subsided for the time being, but since I deal with the Internet and its users all day, I think its just due to the fact that its summer and people arent on the comp as much.

Anyone out there feel the same? Or have I been hanging out on other Forums too much? If I am WAY off in left field, just lemme know. I have been a lurker here since 99 using FJFiero, and only been a posted for awhile, so I HAVE seen it go downhill.. Same way with the Fiero Mailing List as of late as well. Seems we are loosing all the good sources of knowledge.

I hope not..

PS: This isnt a Kindling thread, so think before you post. I'm not flaming anyone or anything, just a comment on an observation.

I TOTALLY!!!! Agree.. There are people that need to use there head before they use there mouth. they think it doesnt matter what others think. And it may not, but I get sick of seeing the same ******* day in and day being exactly that. An ******* .

I agree too.. I've posted a couple of those threads myself in the past, but it was usually about something that was relevant to the forum.... like the story of the trip to buy a Fiero, which wasn't there... that was kinda funny I guess, though I was pretty p*ssed off at the time.

but yeah, there are a few people on the forum who should STFU more.... hehe

just my opinion.

I will admit, I have posted the "pity me" topics, but not often. And maybe there has been an increase in those types of topics, but look at it this way. Some people think of this forum as a family, and to some maybe THIS is the ONLY place they can really get out all their feelings, know what I mean? And as for the flamewars, those seem to wax and wane, it all depends.
If you're tired of a certain "feeling" of a post, as the time old saying goes, "don't read it." And that's all that I can think. If I read something that I don't care for, I'll usually use the back button. I try to keep my two cents out of things unless I feel REALLY strongly about the topic. But that's all I can say. Hope it helps somewhat, but if not....sorry I wasted your 30 seconds to a minute...if that.

JUST BRING IT!

I'm sorry. I've posted those topics and lately I've been a little rude to one forum member in particular, but I have my reasons....

You just gotta try to ignore the BS... and thats what is 90% of OT. There are a bunch of fun topics, but nothing too serious.

There are also going to be a percentage of what I call "Me-too posts", or posts from people who want to respond, but just go along with whats being said without really contributing. Is it bad? Nah. Just post whoring really. Some are also there to try to give support. Someone may think a product for sale is really cool, and without offering to buy it they just need to say they like it.

I do totally agree about some of the more immature members, but the worst of them are no longer around either. You should try some other forums. I am also a regular on probetalk.com and there are a lot more immature idiots over there than here. They are brutal!

I saw this post and thought for sure the sh*t would hit the fan. It didn't so that says something about the maturity level here for the most part.

When I first started posting here I never went to O/T. I was just interested in the car and the do's and don'ts in repair, upgrades, etc. Now I am beginning to know a few people and post more frequently in O/T. Like Lady P said about this forum being like a family, it is with all it's ups and downs.

As far as technical advice and the people with knowledge, those people are still here. Maybe not the sames ones that were here in 99, but there are alot of people here willing to help that have the expertise with Fiero's.

I'm glad to be part of this group.

first I know there are all ages here. I dont mind what anyone posts about. I have the ability to not read it if im not interested. I prob only read 1/3 or less of threads. If you only want to read all fiero stuff, read tech or general fiero. Not slamming anyone, just dont read what you dont want too. Its not fiero related to talk about a dead pet goldfish, but if someone wants too - let them. This is supposed to be 'like' a family, more to talk about than just your car.
