Denso Iridium spark plugs, No hype!, a real gain (Page 1/8)

I've got an 87gt w/3.4L, a while back I took out my working just fine bosch platinum plugs to experiment with the expensive DENSO iridium plugs. I had replaced all ignition parts w/ ac delco, installed taylor plug wires and put an msd coil on. The car was running great and drove it like that for a month or so. I then put in the DENSO iridium plugs and there is definetly a slight but noticable improvemnt all around. Actually does feel like there's a slight hp gain, (maybe 5) no joke! Quick smooth starts, great idle, and a noticable throttle reponse improvement. 4 months now and not a problem. Anybody else tried these plugs? I love em'

And I am sure you have something other then your ass meter to back up your supposed perhaps 5 hp gain no joke.

Dyno results??? I doubt you got 5 hp

When making performance mods, anything under 5-10HP will not be "felt". It would be one thing to say it runs smoother, but if it feels like it pulls harder then it probably is a gain of several HP. 5 HP, maybe so?

I'm telling you my experience. My car right now is running just under 200 hp. If the hp improvement was much less than 5hp I doubt I would feel it. I'm not going to run to dyno test my engine everytime I feel an improvement. My car is running and pulling better than ever, that's a fact! I would'nt add these plugs as a hopeful fix-it for anything but if your car is already running great these may help push you higher. Too bad there so bloody expensive, but they're workin' for me.

Here in southern cal they sell for $70.00 or so for six. Just writing that seems like a ridiculous price for plugs but they really are somethin' special, at least in my car. The plug I used was #ITF16. A colder plug for turbos or iron 4's would be ITF20.

had put them in my old ride, '87 honda prelude Si, that thing was the best beater ever. stripped trunk and interior, removed P/S and A/C, MSD 6AL and coil, header, no cat, 2.25" cat back exhaust, custom 3" intake. this thing would eat a new 'lude 97-01 without any problems, and when i put the denso plugs in it it had a little more pull. i don't know how much i got from it but definately noticeable. i've seen a motorcycle pick up 5hp from the denso plugs, my buddy put them in his GSXR 750 (# could be worng not into bikes) and i saw the dyon sheet he picked up like 4.8 hp. just my experience with them, i'm gonna get some for my TDC when it goes in.

Ok so you might not run to the dyno then everytime you think you felt an improvement but did you even go the first time to claim you have 200 hp? If so post dyno slips. If not don't claim to have 200 crank hp.

There are many other 3.4 owners here that put some money into building up their 3.4's only to come way short of 200 hp. I think you are sorely mistaken on how much power you have. Post dyno results please to prove this so called 200 hp. THanks
