20th "Conflict of Interest"..??? (Page 1/16)
Smoooooth GT JUL 29, 10:52 PM
I find it very Very Interesting that one of the Organiser's of the 20th Ann. Show and The President of MFF won anything at all at the show that he was in charge of......

Much Less:

Class T, daily driver fastback -
1st place - car 4, Robert Holtz

I mean can anyone(someone that has some sense anyway's.) EXPLAIN this to me and the REST of the Fiero world..??

Is'nt that a Conflict of Interest??

a car, but as a process."

OK... so anyone connected in any way with the Show was not supposed to win anything?

It's because of this sort of thing, that I declined an invitation to help in any way with the Audio Competition.
I knew someone may think there was a "conspiracy" if they weren't happy with the results.

No, The rest of the Fiero world probably don't care.

Did you even spend a second or 2 and think that just maybe this guy had the best car in that class?

There's enough crap floating around about 20th "scandals", we don't need another.

I am asking... NOT complaining...
ASKING Do you think it is a CONFLICT of INTEREST?????

Interesting criticism coming from someone who was probably 1000 miles away.

I don't see it as a conflict of interest at all. If this is the car I'm thinking of, it was freaking beautiful.

Well, I know nothing about it, but from a general standpoint:

  • It could be a could be a conflict of intrest, the only person who would know for sure would be the person involved.
  • I would not be surprised at all to find that someone as involved with the shows and club as you mentioned would also love the Fiero's enough to have a show winning car.
  • It would definatly be a conflict if he was also the judge.

Just some thoughts, although I have never entered a car in a show myself.

smooth-maybe you should've contacted Chuck, Loyde, or Dale and found some info about this BEFORE posting?

Just in case you haven't been paying attention....... THE MICHIGAN CLUB HIRED INDEPENDANT JUDGES TO JUDGE & SCORE THE EVENT!!!!

You know, I've been going to Fiero shows for about 15 years now and this show WAS THE BIGGEST FIERO SHOW EVER.

400+ Fieros and 2 or 3 complainers who've blown thier complaints way out of porportion. Give it a rest already!

You've repeatedly asked if this is a conflict of interest, and I get the impression that you are really stating that in your opinion it *is* a conflict of interest and you're just looking for others to agree with you.

But,

Look at it this way: MFC and the other Fiero clubs that helped organize the show are big clubs, with lots of really nice cars owned by their members. The odds of their members winning were higher just because they had a lot of cars there. Also, the judges were hired outsiders, this was done specifically to eliminate any actual or perceived conflicts of interest.

So, I'd say that no, there were no conflicts of interest.
