Can't we all just get along.... (Page 1/5) |

I'm not trying to start any trouble here, but there seems to be quite a bit of negative energy in posting when it comes to what engines are used for a swap. Coming from a chicks point of view, the bullsh!t of which engine could put out more horsepower, which shows better numbers on the dyno, and the whole V8 versus V6, is annoying and down right childish. It seems like everyone is trying to one-up everyone else. I thought this was a fiero "family" in the sense that we help each other out where we can, but it seems more like a pissing contest. Who's got the bigger pen!s?!?!?
The problem with things today, is everyone can trash everyone else because they are safe behind their usernames. If someone does not like another's choice for an engine swap, turbo, supercharger, paint, whatever...... reply in their thread that its wrong, not what should be used, how to do it better.
Nobody should feel obligated to post false information about their fiero. So what if its only got 100 whp. Did you do the swap yourself? Are you happy with how it turned out? Is the car a daily driver? Are you racing for pinks?
Every year the fiero is getting more scarce, you'd think we would be passing another fiero owner and giving a wave...... but instead we end up trying to convince them to do an engine swap. Do a V8 for this reason, no do the sc3800 for this reason.
Of all the forums that my husband and I visit or belong to, this one here is the only one where some are putting down others for their mods.
This is supposed to be a fiero community, helping others, getting together and sharing different ideas. Not everything has to turn into a competition.

Well said comical and to the point, I agree. I am even afraid to post to this because I am worried about getting a negative rating..........sad. I guess I'll just take a chance this does not turn into a flame war.

This isn't to start a flame war. I feel that since we all share the common interest in fieros, there's no reason to fight about it.

I think people here do get along for the most part, ok so sometime a fight breaks out. Ignore it is the easy solution. I don't know about you but I have better things to do with my time. Hey, if everyone was the same it'd be sooooo boring and sometime people are passionate about some of this stuff. Also sometime thing come across differently in a forum like this than they would in person so sometimes things get screwed up when they shouldn't.

I surely agree. The majority of posts and members are great. There will always be a very small number of posts and an even smaller number of individuals who have some kind of grudge they want to level - or perceived wrong undone.
For me, this community is great. I've met proud Fiero owners from all over North America and I've even met some Europeans. I've bought a lot of stuff from PFF individuals and I've sold or given away lots of stuff myself. Overall, by a huge majority, this forum is nothing but positive.
For some reason the engine thing does get out of hand. Boys will be boys and it's been a long hard winter.
As far as the negative or positives votes - you'll never know until your bar comes up. Even if you have some negatives it does not really mean anything unless it's all negative. I play XBOX 360 and I have a 96% positive rating. The 4% comes from individuals who give negative feedback to anyone who beats them, usually the junior teens. As I'm older I don't beat the pants off anyone anymore. So I don't get exposed to the negative too much (LOL).
Thanks for putting up this thread. It's all good. + for you from me!

You go girl!
Half of these points could be intelligent conversations but when the name-calling starts, nobody listens beyond that.
The only reason for name-calling is that you ran out of intelligent things to say.
In the end, we have Cliff's rating system to get rid of the members that like to unneccesarily slam people for their choices. The only reason many of them aren't banned already is because the wiser members of PFF choose to stay away from that kind of thread. If they saw what some of these guys are spewing, they would throw them the final neg they need to leave us in peace.
I don't give a s**t what you drive as long as you like it!

There are mostly (99%) very good people on this forum that bring great ideas and repair suggestions for everyone here and only a very few that just don't get it.

Saxman, you are 100% correct. For the first statement, anyway. I think the name calling could start out as a misunderstanding, but sometimes it is just as you say. I'm going to quote myself from another recent thread, since I feel it bears repeating, and I don't think many people have waded through 5 or 6 pages of pettiness and name calling to read it:
quote | I posted in another thread:
I think several of these disagreements have initially started because the written word does a very poor job of communicating, compared to the spoken one. You can't type cadence or inflection, so the subtleties of meaning get lost and the reader has to interpret everything based on the literal wording alone. The problems get worse when someone's pride becomes an issue. Nobody likes to admit they were wrong, that they may have said something they shouldn't have, or that they lost their temper. Far too many people take everyone else on the internet too seriously. Personally, I don't care what any of you think. It has no bearing on how I am going to live my life. I am going to work where I want, drive what I want, date who I want and build what I feel like. If any of you don't like it, do better yourself. Live your life the way you feel is best for you, and take pride that you have a better life than me. |

I totally agree. An engine swap does not make you better than the next.
If you want an engine swap, good. If you like the stock motor, good. Do what that makes you happy.
I have a sbc swap (w/ Archie kit) that I installed. It is what I wanted, and I did it how I wanted. I love to see engine swaps of any kind! Keep up the good work, do what you like, and enjoy what you did!
