An A.C. PF 52 -a larger filter than a PF47 will replace the smaller PF 47 we all use on v6's. It'll provide more filter and oil and protection for the same price. Compare it at the shelf if you feel uncertain. Both filters will have the same base part numbers where they screw on. Cross reference them for whatever filter brand you use: regular or synthetic. Hope this helps

I don't know the part numbers off hand, but the same situation probably applies to all the 4-bangers. I use the larger oil filter on my 2.5L '87. It's the same diameter but about twice as long as the "stock" one.

Thought I'd do the cool thing too and get the larger filter, however the book already called out the longer one for the fiero(V6),compared to the other applications.

I forgot that I actually have some new oil filters on hand, so I grabbed one to have a look. I use FRAM filters and the number is PH3980. These filters are 3" in diameter and 5" long.
