Well I finelly fixed the problem with my tach pegging while the engine was running. I got another tach that was from a four cyl. gm car. It had esentually the same board in it. I hooked it up to the engine at the tach filter and it worked fine. I then took the old board out of old tach and replaced it with the new one. I had to moddify the new one because it had a oil pressure gauge it stead of a volt meter. I took the series resistor out of the old one and jumpered it across the back of the board. Now we are back working now.

What car did you get the other board out of and exactly what did you alter on it. (I mean describe it better if you can.) Other people are likely to want to know this at some point. better to write it up now while it's fresh. ((We do have a place on the Fiero site for such writeups. Cliff's been looking for things to put there. Things you can build yourself could easily acomodate things you can alter youself.))

I really don't know what car it vcame out of. It didn't have the second gauge at the bottom. I got off of Ebay. The board looked the same with one diference, the it looked like it had an oil pressure gauge on it. The cercuit that feeds the volt meter was routed to the side of the board for another input from the gauge pod. I pulled the series resitor (in line to the volt meter) out of the old board and soldered it across the back of the board from the 12 volt land to the land on the edge of the board that fed the meter. I already have it in the car. I will try to take a picture of it and post it.
