I was thinking about putting a switch on the Fuel Pump relay unit so that unless I throw a switch under/on the dash the fuel pump will refuse to operate -- extra theft protection

you got more mail. Be careful with that manual switch, I know you already know this, but if you have a wreck or something else goes wrong, that switch will cause a lot of gas to keep pumping.

No no -- I was going to put it on the pump TRIGGER side, so basically if this switch ISN'T flipped the fuel pump turn on relay will have no effect.

Here is how i did it!
So if your all wondering this is the info!

First find your Fuel pump relay (should be behind the driver on the fire wall) there should be a double power wire IN and 3 wires out! Look at the 3 wires and remember their colors! Now coming up the firewall from the gas tank is a wiring harness (3 wires - fuel pupm, ground, and gauge) look at the wires... one of them should match the combo on the fuel pump relay.. Im not sure what colors yours were BUT mine was orange with a white stripe! The black one is not it though cause thats obviously ground! Then get those no cut splice connectors from auto zone (the blue ones that you just crush the "gilotine" down on to make a connection! Then splice a piece of wire (14agw) to the wire on the tank harness that is mentioned earlier about (one that matches colors on relay) and then run that 14agw wire into the car. Now buy a lighted switch from Auto Zone... of your color choice! Put the wire for the pump into the ON ACC conector on the switch. EARTH GROUND obviously goes to your ground (this ONLY power the ground for the light on switch so it does not have to be big! And the remaining goes to power... BUT for saftey sake run it to a power in your fuse box that is ONLY on when ignition is on! Otherwise you MAY leave it on accidentally! Ive done this MANY times! In my case... no biggie... but in yours perhaps a problem!! Now after you try everything and it works GREAT take it and mount your switch... remember to put it somweher you wont bump it while driving (killing gas pressure) and also somwhere that the lighted switch wont bug you at night! Why a lighted switch at all? So you know its on... fuel is an important thing you know.. hehehe!

Hope thats it.. if you need more info mail me!

you know what you you say is true you would think that it is common sense and yet that thought of what could happen ,yet I forgot what the dangers are sometimes common sense aint common to people like me.
