I have an '88 GT and the rear light panel has the word PONTIAC across it... I could swear I saw another one where that lit up with the parking lights... I could probaly wire it either way, with the parking lights, or with the brakes, but I wonder when it's actually supposed to be on??? Right now it doesn't light up at all!

Sure do light up. I cannot believe all the bulbs are burned out unless you had a voltage spike. But.... take the lamps out and check the bulbs. This is done by removing the black caps under the deck lid and unscrewing the phillips head screws. Take care not to drop the lights/lense housing as they are precious. Make sure if you repalce the bulbs to use the same type. A brighter bulb gives off more heat and can damage (melt) the unit.

They're supposed to be lit anytime the ignition is on. Hard to see in bright light.

Those lights are wired into the cooling circuit...kind of a warning(not that you'd see it) if your fan fuse is blown or something else it wrong. Check the fuses, then the lamps.
